Canada/USA Tariff Updates
October 3rd, 2025 • Important Shipping Update for U.S Customers
Hello everyone!
We wanted to give you all a quick update on what the current situation is.
As of right now, all our U.S bound orders are on schedule to ship as per usual.
All of our outgoing U.S orders will have both a commercial invoice as well as a CUSMA certificate attached to allow them to cross the border tariff-free.
If you have any questions about how this may affect your order or have questions before you order please reach out to us as soon as possible.
As always, we are doing our best to make sure this process is a smooth and painless as possible, however if in the event your order comes through and you are charged a tariff (remember, you are still responsible for your state duties/taxes upon delivery, which are separate from tariffs) please let us know so we can see what happened.
Thank you again for all your support and we are here to answer your questions.

August 29, 2025 • Important Shipping Update for U.S. Customers
Hi everyone!
I want to give you a heads-up about a recent change that may affect your order.
As of August 29, 2025, the United States has introduced a 35% tariff on certain Canadian-made products, including the items we manufacture here at Sound Yarn & Fibre. Up until this point we have been exempt from this, however this is sadly no longer the case.
Here’s what this means if you’re located in the U.S.:
- Our Prices Are Not Changing – We are keeping our prices the same.
- Tariffs at Checkout or Delivery, Delivered Duties Paid (DDP) – Depending on the carrier, the tariff may either be added at checkout or charged by customs when your package is delivered.
- Delivered Duties Unpaid (DDU) – All orders will continue to ship under DDU terms, which means you (the customer) are responsible for any duties or tariffs applied by U.S. customs.
I know this is frustrating news, and I wish I had more control over the situation. Unfortunately, these tariffs are applied by U.S. customs directly, regardless of when the order was placed and was something we knew was a possibility for months.
I truly appreciate your understanding and continued support. By ordering from us, you’re not only supporting a small business, but you’re also helping keep Canadian manufacturing alive and thriving.
If you have any questions about how this may affect your order, please feel free to reach out.
I’m here to help in whatever way I can.
Warmly,
Rachel

August 11, 2025 • Important Update on Canada–U.S. Tariffs
Shipping to the USA
We take every step possible to ensure our Circular Sock Machines and related products meet USMCA (United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement) rules of origin. This includes providing the required documentation with each shipment so they should qualify for tariff-free entry into the U.S.
Due to the current trade situation between Canada and the United States, U.S. Customs may apply tariffs of up to 35% on non-USMCA-compliant goods. While we believe our products meet the criteria for tariff-free entry, final decisions are made by U.S. border officials and are outside our control.
By placing an order, U.S. customers acknowledge and accept the risk that additional duties, taxes, or fees may be applied at the border, and agree to be responsible for any such charges. If you have questions about U.S. shipping or documentation, please contact us before placing your order. If you have already placed your order and have questions please reach out to us as soon as possible.
Thank you,
